Great Path, Minor Detour

We broke camp while watching a family of what we think were Chinese Geese. Then we rolled out of La Genevraye. With the usual need to explore paths, we had simple navigation. We explored a charming town, Souppes-sur-Loing. We had our usual French lunch with a baguette locally procured and strapped to a bike accompanying by cheese and apples. After a lock side picnic, we rolled onto a great smooth path. We had such great riding we hardly stopped for photos.
At one point, a friendly biker came toward us and explained that the way ahead was blocked by a downed tree. We thought we might somehow scramble through. He said no and showed us a picture of the enormous tree. He didn't know a way around. We stood there briefly and a runner emerged from a steep track to our right. Together they decided we should go up the track, left along a road and left again down a big hill to rejoin the path. The detour started out very steep and rutted, but then led to an equally steep roll, on pavement, to rejoin the path. The best part of the diversion was that the whole conversation was in French. It felt like a communication breakthrough.

Great riding, great scenery, great company, and our first day with no rain.
