Deviation. The word should strike fear in any cyclist's heart. We rode around many barriers and encountered little to no difficulty, but today we met our match. An oncoming cyclist kindly informed us of a fallen tree blocking the next segment of path. After a protracted discussion with a local who walked by, we were advised to detour. The beginning of the detour was brutal. Pushing our bikes up a steep, rocky path that kept curving to the left to keep the endpoint out of view. But summit it we did, eventually. The directions were spot on -- even the bit about the fisherman -- and we were able to ride down a lovely paved path at the other end and resumed our journey.
Scenes such as this were typical of today's ride. We traced the l'Oureq River and the l'Oureq Canal, sometimes sandwiched on a thin strip of land between the two.
The GM cyclists among us are in fine pedaling from.
I have a nice video of Mo & Kate climbing a hill, but Blogger is not happy with my attempts to upload a video instead of a still photo. Stay tuned! That's it for today -- our sleeping bags await ilus here at Camping de la Forét!
