Day 3 - Obstacle Course?

We saw way too many of these signs. Loosely translated, that "inondée" indicates an inundated (aka flooded) road.

We walked through one inundation, above, and rode through another that had our feet fully under water as we pedaled, maybe 12" deep.

Then there was the tree.

But let's start at the proper beginning of the story..

Our campgrounds at Melun were idyllic -- outdoor chess set, playground, and right on the Seine River.

And it was right next door to the local Bridge Club.

It's clear that it's been a wet spring in this area.

But we rode past a rowing club which, of course, made me smile. Beautiful welcoming dock, four bays of boats, and perhaps a hundred or more shells stored outside.

It was amazing to ride with the river Seine to our left and the Fountainebleu
Forest to our right. Serene is an understatement.

Spectacular architecture abounded.

We were graced with wildflowers throughout our ride, especially at our picnic lunch stop.

Before we knew it we were at our campground at La Genevraye.
